Typed paper caption, dated October 6, 1941, reads: “Somewhere in England. – Mary Churchill, 19-year-old daughter of Prime Minister and Mrs. Winston Churchill, a private in the Woman’s Auxiliary Territorial Service, cleaning the windows of the Southern Command Station to which she is assigned. Photo passed by the British censor.” The photograph is in very good condition with light scratch marks and a faint crease at the upper right corner. The verso is backstamped “World Wide Photos.”
