Description
Certainly a one of a kind object: a very handsome, vintage printer’s woodblock with a very precise and accurate rendering of Winston Churchill’s signature engraved in steel. In very good condition, though well-inked and clearly much used. Size: 3 inches long, 5/8 of an inch wide. Inquiries with surviving members of Churchill’s staff have not confirmed that this woodblock stamp was employed in Churchill’s office but only because the stamp predates the survivors’ experience. By common consent it was agreed that such a stamp would have been extensively used before the invention of auto-pens. For now, we must leave it at that.
