World War I-era tobacco card, Number 3 of 50 manufactured in Australia for W.D. & H.O. Wills Ltd.s’ “Britain’s Defenders” series. The bust-length photograph is credited to “Bassano.”
Issued in 1915, after Churchill’s resignation as First Lord of the Admiralty, the card measures 2 3/8 x 1 3/8 inches, with an updated one-paragraph bio printed in green on the verso: “A Privy Councilor and late First Lord of the Admiralty…”
The card is in very good condition.
