Savrola was Winston Churchill’s first and only novel; a statement of personal and political philosophy delivered as a work of dystopian fiction about dictatorship (with an astonishing relevance to our own dire present moment in time). U.S. publication preceded the British issue by roughly ten days, rendering the American first edition the true first.
Description
The most elaborate edition ever produced of Churchill’s only novel and one of the finest productions of any Churchill work, this beautiful illustrated French translation was limited to 1000 copies, with eloquent color woodcut illustrations by Andre Collot.
This is a very good copy, Number 793 of 1000, as originally issued as loose signatures in an open beige portfolio for custom binding by the owner. The spine type on the portfolio has chipped, the acetate dustwrapper is intact. Some of the initial pages have been roughly cut and there is some offset shadow on the title page. The contents are otherwise fine.
