Description
A 20 year old reporter when the Civil War began, Townsend later became one of the most popular journalists in the country. Originally published in 1866 as “Campaigns of a Non-Combatant,” largely ignored at the time. Inscription on title page from Lida Mayo, U.S. Army Historian (who wrote the introduction to this edition) to Robert Selph Henry.
A very good copy, in chipped dust jacket with light wear to edges, corners & spine head & tail lightly worn (292p., index).
