Collector's Guide

Marlborough is Winston Churchill’s majestic biography of John Churchill, the first Duke of Marlborough; soldier, statesmen, hard-headed Churchillian ancestor. Initially published in England as a lush four-volume set and then as a somewhat less deluxe six-volume set in America, it was subsequently issued in an unabridged two-volume edition and a single-volume abridgment.

Description

A good set, in worn dust jackets, of the so-called “Limited Presentation Edition” that Harrap issued in December 1939, produced from remaining sheets of the most recent printings for each volume, save for Volume I, which was reprinted expressly for this edition.
Volume II is a second printing from 1934. Volumes III and IV are First editions.
The dust jackets have darkened at the spines and Volumes I and II jackets have fragmented. The cloth has faded unevenly throughout and there are repaired hinge breaks front and rear to Volume II, but the contents are otherwise fine.
