Collector's Guide
Great Contemporaries comprises twenty-one penetrating profiles of political and literary luminaries. An utter delight to read, beautifully written and brutally opinionated (Hitler comes off just a bit better than George Bernard Shaw), the ensuing “Revised” edition (and most future reprints) added four new profiles: Lord Fisher, Charles Stewart Parnell, Lord Baden-Powell and President Franklin D. Roosevelt.
Description
This is a very good copy of the Sixth Impression of the First English edition, in an unclipped dust jacket that is fresh and bright, if a trifle darkened with age. The book is virtually mint, the contents fine, save for ink inscriptions on the front free endpaper.
Published three months after the First Edition. Laid-in is an original “Home University Library” bookmark mailer from the publisher Thornton Butterworth.
