This official note typed on the Queen’s own letterhead, blindstamped: E.R. in the upper lefthand corner, reads:
The Prime Minister, with his humble duty, has the honor to submit the foregoing to Your Majesty, and remains Your Majesty’s obedient and devoted servant, [signed in ink:] Winston S. Churchill.
The note is in mint condition, file-punched in the upper lefthand corner.
Preserved with a large, vintage postcard in very good condition commemorating Churchill’s retirement dinner as PM at No. 10 with Queen Eiizabeth on the evening of April 3, 1955.
The verso is unmarked and unused postally. It is printed: Raphael Tuck & Sons Ltd. Fine Art Publishers by Appointment to The Late King George VI, The Late Queen Mary and to H.M. Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother.
The caption reads: Royal dinner at No. 10 Downing Street on the eve of Sir Winston Churchill’s retirement as Prime Minister. The Queen bids adieu to her Host and Hostess, Sir Winston and Lady Churchill.
