The photograph measures 7 1/2 x 9 1/2 inches and has the seal of the Signal Corps. U.S. Army imbedded in the lower left corner. The photograph is in beautiful condition and has been sumptuously matted and framed (20 1/2 x 23 inches overall).
The CAIRO CONFERENCE took place November 22-26, 1943 at the residence (pictured here) of the American Ambassador to Egypt, Alexander Kirk, near the Pyramids. The conference was attended by President Franklin D. Roosevelt, Winston Churchill, and Generalissimo Chiang Kai-shek of the Republic of China. Joseph Stalin did not attend because meeting with China would have caused friction with Japan, with whom Russia was not at war. A “Cairo Declaration” was issued on November 27, 1943 declaring the Allies’ determination to fight Japan until its unconditional surrender.
