Description
This original cartoon from Punch Magazine, dated April 13, 1927, is in very good condition. The caption reads:
“The Chancellor of the Exchequer. ‘Believe me, sir, this hurts me more than it hurts you. For both our sakes I had hoped to let you off more lightly this time; but the coal stoppage has left me no choice.’”
Drawn by the noted political cartoonist, Bernard Partridge, who, beginning in 1910, was Punch magazine’s chief Cartoonist. In 1925, he received a knighthood.
