Collector's Guide
Arms and the Covenant captures Churchill’s initial alarms against Hitler and the Nazis in forty-one prophetic pre-war speeches delivered from 1928-1938, edited by his son Randolph. Published in the U.S. under the title While England Slept, the book, according to FDR, sat on his White House nightstand in 1938.
Description
This is a very good copy of the First English edition, in the very rare dust jacket, which is somewhat shelfworn and a trifle foxed and edge-chipped, with rubbing along the age-darkened spine and fractional losses at the spine head and tail, as well as the upper right corner tip of the front face. There is a closed tear along the front upper jacket hinge and some faint stains. The book is in virtually mint condition, the blue cloth fresh and unfaded, even along the notoriously problematic spine, with the familiar toning to the half-title from the dust jacket flap, and very light, scattered foxing to the prelims, else fine.
